Newark HS Junior Alexandra (Ali) House captured a State Championship at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, swimming/diving championships at Ithaca College last weekend.
House lead the field of 47 of the state’s top qualifying divers to seize the dive championship, with a final score of 509.40 points.
The championship fell on the heels of House’s undefeated season, which included several pool, school and Finger Lakes League records, along with her Section V Class B championship and record.
In previous appearances at State, Ali was 9th place as a Freshman and runner-up as a sophomore. A very impressive run for a diver who only picked up the sport a few years ago.
House will continue training at the Upstate NY Diving Club at Rochester Institute of Technology, with the goal of returning to the USA Diving Senior National Championships this summer.
