DRAFT MINUTES {An audited and approved set of minutes will be available in the Clerk’s Office following next month’s meeting}

Minutes of the Regular Town Board Meeting of the Sodus Town Board held Wednesday December 9, 2015 at the Sodus Town Meeting Room.

Meeting commenced at 6:30 pm with Executive Session followed at 7:00 pm with the Regular Town Board Meeting.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Enered into Executive Session at 6:30 pm to discuss a personnel issue regarding a particular individual and came out of Executive Session at 6:50 pm was seconded by Councilperson Grey.  Upon roll call, the following votes were heard Supervisor Steven LeRoy, aye; Pickering, aye; Grey, aye; Councilperson David LeRoy, aye. Motion carried.

REGULAR SESSION:

Supervisor Steve LeRoy called the Regular Town Board Meeting to order commencing at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Monthly reports were presented

Councilperson Pickering motioned to have a full audit on the Town of Sodus Court/Justices Department. The audit will be done in 2016 was seconded by Councilperson Pickering.  Upon roll call, the following votes were heard Supervisor Steven LeRoy, aye; Pickering, aye; Grey, aye; Councilperson David LeRoy, aye. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

Town of Sodus resient Ed Schum discussed with the Sodus Town Board a proposal he would like to see happen in the Town of Sodus helping Veterans and their families with housing capabilities (including homeless Veterans).  Schum approached the Town Board regarding using the old Myers Hospital building on Middle Rd. in Sodus. Schum explained he has been working with Supervisor LeRoy contacting agencies and attending meetings regarding this matter. The proposal includes 5 counties. Jim Quinn stated, “He would like to see Wayne County Veterans get priority over other counties.” The Town Board supports Schum’s proposal.  In addition Schum stated there are many agencies that are willing to provided labor at no charge to help make this happen.  The Town Board asked Schum to keep them informed on the progress of using the “Old Myers Building” for Veterans Housing.

Town of Sodus Committee and Department reports given

The board:

–  authorized Supervisor LeRoy to sign and adopt the “Sale and Purchase Water Agreement”

– authorized Dale Pickering to obtain a written resignation from Mary Jane Mumby that resigned as a Board of Assessment Review Member this last spring in 2015

– re-appointed Donald Buchwald as a Board of Assessment Review Member effective October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2020

Discussion was held regarding letter from Mary Piekunka. The letter contains a written resignation from Piekunka as Director of the Information Center.

The board agreed to hire Innovative Solutions Corp. as listed in the quote provided purchasing a server product to house Williamson Law Books Software, User Folders, Backup, and future applications such as cameras, T/A etc.. The amount will not to exceed $1,391.00 for the total system and labor at $55.00 per hour .

The board also recognized Newark High School student Ali House for her outstanding diving season, in which she won the one-meter diving title at the New York State Girls Swimming and Diving Championships and placed 26th in the U.S. Diving Championship in Orlando, Florida.

The board extended their appreciation to Ken VanDeWalle for his service as a 23-year member of the Wayne County Planning Board.

A resolution was passed granting funds not to exceed $689,529 for the Sheriff’s to enter into an agreement with Black Creek Integrated Systems Corporation to upgrade components of the Jail Facility Security Management System.

The first meeting for 2016 will be held Jan. 4, at 9:00 a.m.
