NEWARK/LYONS: Age 82, died Wednesday (February 17, 2016) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Frank was born on January 8, 1934 in Phelps the son of the late Elmer and Lucille Orbaker Frank. He was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1953 and is a member of the Newark Football Alumni. Jake served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He worked at Garlock, Inc for 42 years, retiring 1994. In 1960, Garlock awarded Jake and another employee their highest award ever given for making a suggestion for an improvement. He was a member of the the Fairville Presbyterian Church where he had been an Elder. For many years, he was a member of the Fairville Fire Department and had also served on the Fairville Cemetery Association’s Board. His loved ones will remember him for his Jakism’s . He was great fan of both Syracuse and the Yankees. Jake loved to hunt and was an avid golfer, arranging many tournaments. He and his wife traveled to Florida for 20 years to winter. Jake is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlene VerCrouse Frank, two daughters Cheryl (Michael) Cowley of Lyons and Debra (Gregory) Chadwick of Ocala, Fl; four grandchildren Tiffany, Ryan, Adare and Cassandra; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Albert (Gwen) of New Port Richey, Fl and David (Linda) of Newark. He was predeceased by his brothers Elmer and Richard. Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday (February 21, 2016) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday (February 22nd). Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.
