Abingdon, Maryland/Savannah, NY: Passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after an extended illness. Richard was predeceased by his father Donald Colvin in 2014 and his sister Elise-Colvin Shelley in 2011 and is survived by his mother Lynne Colvin of Penfield, longtime friend Joseph Tan of Abingdon, his daughters April Mercedes and Jessica Rachel Tan, niece Elizabeth Shelley (Max) Stewart of Florida and nephew Brandon (Danielle) Shelley of Rochester, brother-in-law Mike Shelley, great nieces Abigail and Erin Shelley of Rochester and Ella Stewart of Florida and a long list of close friends. Richard was born May 23, 1964 in Buffalo, NY. He was raised by his parents, Donald and Lynne Colvin in Savannah, NY. Richard graduated from Clyde-Savannah Central School in 1982. Richard received his Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from Johnson and Whales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Later he received his Master’s degree in Computer Science. Richard was employed as a hotel manager in Chicago, Florida and Maryland where he made a difference in every place he worked. He lived in Baltimore for the last 14 years. Richard was a man of many different beliefs. He loved his family and friends and loved back by all who knew him. A Celebration of Richie’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Norton Funeral Home, 13081 West Church St., Savannah, NY with Pastor Marty Robinson of the Amazing Grace Parish officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 noon and Memorial Service to follow at 1 pm. Interment will follow at the Butler Savannah Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at hsnorton.com.
