The Good
It looks like we’re going to lose the “dab” next season. Carolina Panthers’ Quarterback Cam Newton, told a Charlotte radio station that he’ll be retiring his patented celebration move and creating a new move for the 2016-2017 season. What will it be? He’s not revealing it until the season begins…ohhh….I can’t wait. Maybe it will be the silent treatment at post-game press conferences. One can only hope.
The Bad
Welcome to Chicago!
Newly acquired White Sox pitcher James Shields had hoped for a fresh start with his new team after starting the season with a record of 2-7 for the San Diego Padres and allowing 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings in his last outing against Seattle.
Instead, he was booed off the field after throwing 79 pitches through just two innings during a 11-4 loss to the Nationals.
He allowed seven runs on eight hits, three home runs, walked two batters and threw a wild pitch before exiting in the third inning with no outs.
The White Sox have now lost 19 of their last 25 games.
Speaking of bad….
As I’m watching Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals, I’m amazed how good the Pittsburgh and San Jose scoring lines are and how much it would suck to be a goalie for either team. After the first period the Sharks have three goals in five shots against Penguins goalie Matt Murray. Ouch.
The Ugly
Last weekend Monee, Illinois mayor Jay Farquhar allegedly punched a Little League umpire in the face, breaking his jaw in two places.
Farquhar was managing his son’s little league team (made up of 7 and 8-year olds), when according to witnesses, he approached umpire Tim Nelson to dispute a foul tip call in the second inning. Apparently, the dispute quickly escalated into a violent confrontation and Farquhar threw a punch.
The umpire finished the game with a broken jaw. The mayor has somehow only been suspended from coaching the team for one year and can’t attend any little league games.
