Camp Babcock-Hovey (Boy Scouts of America) announces the winners of our 2018 Top Shot Challenge that occurred on Saturday April 14th. There were 88 youth and adults in attendance at the competition.
In the 12-15 age bracket:
First Place: Nate Mayou (Macedon, NY) with 366 pts.
Second Place: Alex Crossing (Victor, NY) with 293 pts.
Third Place: Braiden Hendershot (Webster, NY) with 289 pts.
In the 16-20 age bracket:
First Place: Aaron Blanchard (Marion, NY) with 309 pts.
Second Place: Trenton Bryan (Ontario, NY) with 284 pts.
Third Place Tie: Lucas Adams (Macedon, NY) and Matthew Hartle (Victor, NY) with 281 pts.
The Top Shot challenge includes competition in Archery, BB Gun, Rifle, Shotgun, and Knife Throwing. Competitors are given a couple of practice rounds in the morning. In the afternoon scoring rounds commence. Each activity is weighted equally to see who is the overall “Top Shot”. Trophies were awarded for the top 3 finishers in each age group and all youth participants left with a T-shirt and a small door prize including Runnings gift certificates, emergency whistles, ammo boxes, fun games, etc.
The event was co-sponsored by the Ontario County Chapter of SCOPE. “SCOPE’s mission is to practice a strength in numbers strategy. A grassroots organization that values the talent and commitment of our members to advance our cause to preserve the Second Amendment rights of all New York State citizens. Their goal is to educate the public and public office holders on the principles of the Second Amendment and the wisdom of our founding fathers who saw this as a tool to guarantee our freedom.”
